This is a foundation class on Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). This course is designed to teach LDAP fundamental skills needed to understand basics of LDAP. The course will cover an overview of the LDAP concepts such as entries, attributes, object class, directory information tree, suffixes, distinguished names, relative distinguished names and so forth. It will also cover the commands to search and update information in an LDAP directory. |

After completing this course, students will be able to accomplish the following:
- Define LDAP and discuss concepts regarding LDAP standards
- Describe what is a directory
- Describe the differences between directories and databases
- Define what is an LDAP server
- Define what is an LDAP client
- Define entries, attributes, object classes, and schema
- Explain how entries are structured in an LDAP directory
- Explain how entries are named in an LDAP directory
- Define directory information tree (DIT), suffix, distinguished name (DN), and relative distinguished name (RDN)
- Use ldapsearch, ldapadd, ldapmodify, and ldapdelete commands
- Explain the purpose of LDIF files
- Use LDIF files to update directory
- Define referrals and replication
