This course covers configuration and administration of IBM Tivoli Directory Server Version 6.0 which provides an LDAP client and server infrastructure. In this course you will learn basic LDAP concepts, install the directory server and configure directory server instances. You will load a sample database and manage directory data using the Web Administration and command line tools. You will secure directory data using ACLs and SSL, configure a proxy server, and set up replication. Problem determination and performance tools will also be covered.

Describe the components of IBM Tivoli Directory Server; list its hardware and software prerequisites
Install and configure IBM Tivoli Directory Server instances and load a sample database
Use the Web Administration Tool to view, edit, add and delete directory entries; search the directory using ldapsearch
Explain the purpose of the directory schema, object classes and attributes; use the Web Administration tool to extend the default schema
Configure and use simple and Digest-MD5 authentication; list the password policies supported by IBM Tivoli Directory Server
Describe the access control model used by IBM Tivoli Directory Server; configure and enforce access control policies for directory entries
Configure partial tree replication; configure replication schedules; configure a proxy directory server

Architecture and components of IBM Tivoli Directory Server, supported platforms, hardware and software requirements; installation; migration; instance configuration using the Instance Configuration Tool; server administration using the Web Administration Tool
Security features of the IBM Tivoli Director Server including authentication, password policies, emergency thread, access control model, IBM GSKit and SSL configuration
Distributed Directory concepts such as referrals and proxy servers; replication concepts; configuring partial tree replication and replication schedules
Performance tuning including LDAP caches, DB2 indexes, DB2 buffer pools, optimization; obtaining server statistics helpful for performance tuning; backing up and restoring the directory database
Problem Determination and logging facilities
