| This course is designed to teach fundamental TCP/IP skills needed by Tivoli Software implementation specialists. The course will cover an overview of the TCP/IP protocol; its relation to the OSI reference model, each of the components that comprise of the TCP/IP protocol, and some of the common applications that run on TCP/IP. |
|
After completing this course, students will be able to accomplish the following:
- Describe the history of the TCP/IP protocol and its general function
- Outline the OSI reference model and where the TCP/IP protocol fits in each later.
- Describe the differences between IP addresses, subnets, hosts, and networks
- Subnet an IP network.
- Describe and modify a routing table.
- Explain ports, sockets, and their relation to common TCP/IP applications.
- Configure name resolution in UNIX and Windows environments.
- Explain the differences between firewalls and packet filters.
- Illustrate the implementation of VLANs and NAT.
- Describe the concepts related to IP Load balancing.
