IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time 6.2 (ITCAM RT) is an application monitoring tool that provides the ability to comprehensively monitor, alert and report on the availability and response time of business applications. Applications may range from simple desktop clients to complex distributed composite web applications. Learn ITCAM RT features, how it fits in the overall ITCAM family, product configuration, and how to monitor applications. This workshop includes extensive hands-on lab exercises.

This is an intermediate course for implementers and administrators of IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time.

Required skills/knowledge

ITCAM RT 6.2 uses IBM Tivoli Monitoring's Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP). You should be familiar with IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) and TEP.

You should complete the following courses:

  • IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1: Operator Tasks (Web-based course) ( TV817 ) or
  • IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 for Operators ( TV280 )

Administrators would also benefit from one of the following:

  • IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 for Administrators ( TV301 ) or
  • IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1: Creating Reports and Workspaces (Web-based course) ( TV825 ) and IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 Creating Automation (Web-based course) (TV814)

Implementers would benefit from course IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 for Implementers (TV350)

Additional requirements:

  • General knowledge of server hardware
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles
  • Working knowledge of system administration of UNIX, Windows or Linux operating systems
  • Working knowledge of relational databases
  • Working knowledge of ITM v6.1 installation, configuration, and administration
  • General knowledge of application monitoring and the applications to be monitored
  • General knowledge of Application Response Measurement (ARM) concepts

To participate in both the lectures and labs for this course, your workstation must meet the following hardware requirements:

  • Minimum of 256 MB of memory
  • Windows 2000 or XP
  • Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.
  • 128-bit encryption
  • Versions of Internet Explorer prior to version 6.0 and Windows 2000 must have the High Encryption Packs installed
  • Minimum 30Kbps dedicated Internet bandwidth
