Course description

IBM Tivoli Business Services Manager (TBSM) helps visualize the health of critical business services and associated Service Level Agreements (SLAs). TBSM 4.1 enables IT to target resources and actions toward the most critical and costly IT resources and issues, ultimately delivering the greatest impact to the business. In this course, you will learn how to develop and build service models and configure service views. Through hands-on exercises, you will use, configure, and administer TBSM 4.1.


Objectives

After completing this course, students should be able to accomplish the following:

  • Evaluate business processes to develop service models.
  • Build TBSM 4.1 Service Models.
  • Use and configure TBSM 4.1 service views.
  • Use advanced features of service models to expand model coverage.
  • Configure maintenance windows for managed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Configure Data Fetchers to retrieve service data from external databases.
  • Configure the TEC probe to receive events from TBSM event sources including TEC and ITM.
  • Build service models using auto-population, data fetchers, and External Service Dependency Adapters (ESDAs).
  • Develop custom service views for users.
  • Administer users and groups within TBSM 4.1 and the IBM Netcool Security Manager framework.
  • Use and program the TBSM 4.1 Application Programming Interface (API).
  • Provide infrastructure administration for the TBSM 4.1 environment.
  • Describe bidirectional data flow between the OMNIbus Object Server and the TBSM server.
  • Describe the steps necessary to configure a TBSM 4.1 failover server.
  • Troubleshoot operations using TBSM logs.
