Course description

Netcool/Proviso is performance management software that provides fast network reporting suitable for trend analysis, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and SLA objectives. These highly customizable web-based reports are appropraite for audiences including network operations staff, business decision makers, and customers of service providers. The highly flexible and scaleable architecture allows for full integration into a service provider or enterprise scale OSS infrastructure.

This two day training class is provided in a classroom environment with multiple opportunities for hands-on lab practice that will expose the student to fundamentals of Netcool/Proviso features and administration.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Navigate DataMart GUI
Identify DataMart GUI tools
Describe SSH Client/Server roles in Netcool/Proviso data transfer
Outline DataLoad and DataChannel process naming convention
Trace meta and metric dataflow through Netcool/Proviso modules
Explain inter-module CORBA bus communication
Manage Netcool/Proviso components using CLI and DataMart GUI
Describe the Directory structure of Netcool/Proviso components
Follow file dataflow from the DataLoad directories to the central database
List Netcool/Proviso report types
Understand relationship between reports
Describe the DataView DVNavigator and SilverStream Designer utilities
Describe the function of a Netcool/Proviso Application Pack
List the components of a Netcool/Proviso Application pack and relate them to Netcool/Proviso modules
