This is a “consultant to consultant” workshop, intended only for IBM and Partner consultants that will be working on multiple implementations of IBM Tivoli Identity Manager.
This workshop is designed to take individuals through the steps required to effectively manage an ITIM deployment from the implementer’s viewpoint.
To facilitate this workshop, the student will be taken through the steps required to insure all aspects of a complicated ITIM implementation are properly accounted for and communicated to all interested project participants.
Objectives
This workshop starts with a brief introduction of IBM Tivoli Identity Manager. Next the workshop will provide a basic understanding of ITIM and its associated components from a Project Management perspective. The expansion of ITIM functionality through customization will be covered, followed by a walk through of the implementation engagement steps and a discussion of the available tools and templates. The final element of this workshop provides detail on lessons learned and best practices for ITIM deployments.

At the end of this workshop, with a combination of the knowledge gained in this workshop and utilization of tools provided, each student should be fully equipped to begin accumulating the experience needed to properly provide complete end to end management of an ITIM implementation project.

This unit will introduce you to the IBM Tivoli Security Portfolio and IBM Tivoli Identity Manager’s role.
Understanding IBM Tivoli Identity Manager
This unit will introduce you to IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Features and Functions from the perspective of Marketing. It will also show you the architecture of IBM Tivoli Identity Manager from a technical standpoint. Finally, you will learn about the Project Management view of implementing IBM Tivoli Identity Manager.
Expanding IBM Tivoli Identity Manager Through Customization
Understanding Customization versus Configuring. Assessing Customization Scope and Objectives. Customization Lifecycle
Implementation Engagement Steps
In this unit you will learn about the Implementation Engagement Steps. We will talk about the Initiation of the project, the Design, Scope, and Funding phase, the Project Approval phase, and Project Closure.
Tools and Templates
This unit will cover some of the issues related to Pre-Implementation Support, project management tasks and introduce you to various tools and templates that will help you make a successful project.
Lessons Learned and Best Practices
In this unit, we will discuss some of the common Lessons Learned and how to manage a successful implementation of IBM Tivoli Identity Manager.
Who will benefit from this course
The workshop is designed to provide the participants an opportunity to gain a working knowledge of the tools and templates used to complete a successful implementation of IBM Tivoli Identity Manager. The workshop will benefit project managers and other members of the implementation team that are required to manage portions of the IBM Tivoli Identity Manager project. The tools used in this workshop are not available to customers.
Required skills/knowledge
Participants should have prior project management experience and either have a working knowledge of ITIM or have attended the ITIM Basic Implementation Workshop.
