Take five to learn more about Rational software and its future direction

Rational

5th anniversary - Celebratring acquisition success!

Five years ago, in February 2003, IBM solidified its leadership in the software development market by completing its $2.1B acquisition of Rational® software. Since the acquisition, Rational has had a tremendous impact on IBM's middleware portfolio and now delivers the industry's most complete, open, standards-based software development environment that enables developers to more easily govern their software and systems development and delivery. Founded in 1981, Rational currently has expertise and an expanded portfolio from several other acquisitions (Information Laboratory (2003), Systemcorp ALG (2004), BuildForge Inc. (2006), Watchfire Corp (2007), and Telelogic (close pending), 28,000 customers worldwide including Ericsson®, the National Football League®, NASA, and the U.S. Open®, and more than 750 business partners selling Rational software solutions.

IBM is committed to driving the changes that lead our customers to new levels of efficiency. Since 2001, IBM has invested more than $22 billion on 72 acquisitions that have helped IBM gain a jump-start into emerging markets and fill gaps in our existing technology, round out key aspects of our portfolio, and quickly move into new markets to further differentiate IBM from the competition. Rational is one of those success stories.
