| 10:30AM - ISPF to composite application development: A quick view for a COBOL or PL1 programmer of ISPF productivity tool, then WebSphere Developer for System z |
In this session, you’ll discover how the ISPF Productivity Tool increases productivity through its easy access to functionality within ISPF. It’s completely integrated with ISPF, and provides functionality from any ISPF screen into the standard ISPF lists, letting you turn ISPF into a centralized, object-oriented development center that dramatically improves performance. We’ll also discuss how the Eclipse technology of WebSphere® Developer for System z™ provides a single integrated development environment for all supported languages and architectural styles when you are creating new applications from scratch, or reusing existing applications.
| 11:00AM - Log onto System z and problem determination tools |
| 11:15AM - Fault Analyzer |
With the Fault Analyzer for z/OS®, you’ll have the information you need to determine the cause of – and to resolve – application and system failures. We’ll discuss its integrated support for Java™ and IBM WebSphere Application Server for z/OS, which gives Fault Analyzer expanded application coverage and business value beyond traditional applications. You’ll learn how this one tool can assist you in analysis of abends in composite applications, with support for 64-bit DB2 Universal Database™, Version 8, as well as support for WebSphere Application Server on System z.
| 12:45PM - File Manager |
The File Manager for z/OS is a set of comprehensive, user-friendly tools for working with z/OS data sets, or DB2® or IMS™ data. It also lets you access CICS® resources under control of a CICS transaction. In this session, we’ll show you how to use it to create, browse, copy, edit, print, and format or reformat data files in the most popular z/OS file formats. You’ll also learn how it can manipulate data using COBOL and PL/I record layouts, either interactively or in batch.
| 2:00PM - Debug Tool Utilities and Advanced Functions |
To add true value, debugging utilities for applications need to run in a variety of environments and this solution from IBM does just that with support for CICS, IMS, DB2 Stored Procedures and UNIX® System Services (USS). Learn about its features that help identify old OS/VS and VS COBOL II source code and upgrade the code to IBM Enterprise COBOL. With these features, you’ll also meet the requirements of DB2 Universal Database for z/OS, Version 8 and CICS Transaction Server for z/OS, Version 3.1. You will see DTAUF interact live through WebSphere Developer for System z.
| 3:00PM - Application Performance Analyzer |
Learn how Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS helps you identify constraints and improve the performance of your applications. We’ll share how this nonintrusive performance analyzer helps you with design, development and maintenance cycles. Its key function measures and reports how resources are used by applications running in virtually any z/OS address space.
