New IBM System z10 mainframe – changing the cost equation across all platforms

How much does it really cost to grow or consolidate workloads on the mainframe versus the equivalent distributed servers? The overwhelming price-per-performance gains with the new generation System z10 Enterprise Class mainframe may put the question to rest for good.

A Rational approach to modernizing applications on the mainframe

Modernizing your mainframe applications can help open your business to new channels, such as the Web, and improve customer satisfaction. By reusing what you already have, breaking down skills silos among your programmers and using the right tools, you can greatly reduce the time and expense of developing new applications and services.

Centering your service management strategy on the mainframe

Service management approaches typically come in one flavor: Distributed. Now you can roll out a mainframe-centric or mainframe-inclusive strategy that helps you improve service delivery and reduce costs while consolidating the administration of all systems – mainframe and distributed – to a single platform.

Business intelligence and the mainframe: Getting the best bang for your BI buck

Companies riding the resurgent wave of the mainframe believe in its value, like providing a single version of the truth through centralized data. And to get the most out of that data, businesses need to empower not just top managers — but users across the organization — with an easy-to-use business intelligence platform that allows everyone to actively participate in making good business decisions for the company.
