IBM® Communications Server for Linux™ on zSeries® provides enterprise networking solutions across diverse networks It can reduce costs by consolidating SNA network protocols to the data center and exploiting the reliability, availability, scalability, and security of the zSeries platform. - Offers high-performance access to SNA applications in the data center through Enterprise Extender and remote SNA API technologies that enable transport of SNA traffic over an IP network, to which the zSeries platform connects with OSA-Express and gigabit Ethernet technologies
- Improves network availability, efficiency, and performance by extending the use of APPN EE to z/VM® and VSE/ESA™, which do not natively support those SNA enhancements
- Includes secure and high-performance TN3270E Server on zSeries, enabling consolidation of distributed TN3270E servers to zSeries mainframe operating systems, and enhances security by being in the same machine with the target 3270-based SNA applications
- Provides an optimal integrated solution for accessing 3270-based SNA applications using a standard Web browser when combined with WebSphere® Application Server and Host Access Transformation Server
- Offers secure 3270 terminal access using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) authentication and encryption for TN3270E connections, and enables you to secure the full data path between the remote TN3270E client and the TN3270E server on zSeries
- Enables TN3270E port translation for easier firewall administration with the Telnet Redirector function and provides attractive cost reduction and administration simplification by enabling you to use SSL for just a portion of the end-to-end TN3270 connection
- Offers easy migrations of OS/2® SNA applications to this secure, highly available, and scalable platform with SNA programming interfaces that are nearly identical to those used on OS/2 to significantly simplify migration activities
- Operating systems supported: Linux
