A) IBM PC or compatible (Pentium class or higher processor); VGA adapter and monitor; CD-ROM drive; a mouse or other pointing device. Running Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP; with 16MB RAM for Windows 95/98/ME; 48MB RAM for Windows NT; 64MB RAM for Windows 2000; 128MB for Windows XP. The maximum hard-disk space required for SmartSuite is 293MB. (Your hard-disk space usage will vary depending on the operating system and configuration.)

A) Yes. It has been tested on Win 95, Win 98, Win ME, Win NT4, Win 2000 and Win XP.

A) SmartSuite applications files are upwardly compatible. Document-centric applications like Word Pro, 1-2-3 and Freelance can write back to prior version file formats. In addition, 1-2-3 can run existing 1-2-3 macros. In addition, 1-2-3 includes the classic '/' menu key and Word Pro has Ami Pro alternative menus and menu help.

Q) How is SmartSuite compatible with Microsoft Office?
A) With SmartSuite Release 9.8, it is easy to convert files from earlier versions of SmartSuite and other business applications including Microsoft Office. SmartSuite 9.8 file filters exchange documents seamlessly to and from Freelance Graphics and PowerPoint, Word Pro and Microsoft Word or 1-2-3 and Excel.

Word Pro can read all Word Files including Word 97, 2000 and XP. It can save in Word 95, 97 and 2000 format or lower. 1-2-3 can read and write all Excel version files with improved fidelity in this release. Freelance can read and write to all PowerPoint 97/2000/XP files. Approach can read Access MDB and other data files via ODBC. In addition 1-2-3 has an Excel Menu Finder to help the user learn the equivalent menu in 1-2-3. With custom menus in Word Pro the user can use either Word or Word Perfect menus.
