Profiles are the part of Lotus Connections that helps you quickly find the people you need by searching across your organization using keywords to identify expertise, current projects, and responsibilities.
You can find people based on things like the person's name, their organization, location, reporting structure and interests.
An integrated directory and expertise location engine, Lotus Connections profiles help you identify and work with key people who have specific knowledge or strategic business relationships.
Profiles let you tap into the knowledge capital within your organization, and makes it easy to establish new business contacts.
Profiles help you expand your personal network and rofiles help you develop and maintain personal relationships that span obstacles like reporting structure, idepartment, geography, etc.
Profiles typically include a person's photo, reporting structure, name, pronunciation, the time zone the person works in, and information about the individual's expertise and areas of interest.
New features in this release include:
- The types and amount of information that are displayed in a profile can be customized to match the information that is most relevant to your business.
- Profile types can be created to determine which fields to display and what related information widgets to show. For example, regular employees can be one type, showing office information and a reporting chain, while consultant can be another type, showing company and no reporting chain.
- Social tagging can now be used to associate individuals with a topic, expertise, or other relevant category. You can tag yourself or others. The tags are displayed in a tag cloud or as a list on the individual's Profiles page, providing a quick way for users to locate individuals who are associated with a topic.
- Colleagues can be tagged with key words to help you recall their expertise. The colleague list is used by the new Lotus Connections home page to assemble and display information such as recent bookmarks and blog entries.
