IT FACTORY introduces IT FACTORY Platform as a Service
Orlando, Fla. January 21, 2008: IT FACTORY, the Danish Independent Software Vendor (ISV) and Knowledge Sponsor at the IBM Lotusphere 2008 conference, introduces IT FACTORY Platform as a Service. The new platform and framework will provide ISVs, developers and system integrators with fast Software as a Service (SaaS) enablement of new and existing IBM Lotus based solutions.
Delivered as a service over the internet, IT FACTORY Platform as a Service gives access to development, administration, provisioning and deployment of applications in the Software as a Service delivery model.
Technologies supported by the initial platform will be IBM Lotus Notes 7.x and 8.x, IBM Lotus Domino 7.x and 8.x, Eclipse 3.x, IBM WebSphere Portlet Factory and IBM WebSphere Portal Server - with more technologies from all IBM brands being added subsequently.
"The idea behind IT FACTORY Platform as a Service was to create a one-stop shop for all the infrastructure needs ISVs, system integrators and developers face when they wish to deliver their applications as Software as a Service", says Stein Bagger, the CEO of IT FACTORY.
IT FACTORY Platform as a Service is based on open, known standards and will include:
- Key frameworks for SaaS enablement, including a multi-tenant development framework, security, billing, and workflow
- SaaS enablement through virtualization, allowing any ISV with a single or multitenant application to deliver to customers over the internet as a service
- Developer and test environments that offer access to a truly global online developer ecosystem.
- Administration and provisioning tools
- Infrastructure and technologies, including various database and application servers
"By providing state of the art frameworks and eliminating the need for large, upfront investments in hardware and software infrastructures, IT FACTORY Platform as a Service will not only reduce the time it takes to get applications SaaS-ready -- it will also reduce costs," Stein Bagger, continues.
