FaceTime Brings Unified Communications Management and Support to IBM Lotus Sametime Customers

Supports Sametime 8.0 including security and management for mobile and Blackberry users

LOTUSPHERE, ORLANDO, FL. January 21, 2008 - FaceTime Communications, an IBM advanced level member of IBM PartnerWorld and the leading provider of solutions that control greynets and manage unified communications in the enterprise, is exhibiting this week at Lotusphere at Pedestal 324 and has announced its support for IBM Lotus Sametime 8.0.

To provide comprehensive management and security for unified communications environments such as Lotus Sametime, FaceTime's IMAuditor provides enhanced security and compliance including comprehensive malware protection against worms, viruses, spyware and SpIM as well as tamper-proof, non-repudiated full capture, recording, archival, and auditing of all conversations and file transfers conducted over Lotus Sametime. With support for Lotus Sametime 8.0, IMAuditor now includes support for mobile workers connecting to Lotus Sametime via Blackberry devices.

Unless companies are monitoring or controlling public IM or other similar applications, companies using unified communications platforms and enterprise IM networks can still be at risk from the same inbound threats from worms, viruses, root kits, spyware and malware that have targeted public IM and email applications. According to a 2007 research survey conducted by NewDiligence Market Research and commissioned by FaceTime,* 66 percent end users who have enterprise IM installed on their desktops said they also use public IM.

"The majority of corporate environments are heterogeneous in nature," said Frank Cabri, vice president of marketing and product management for FaceTime. "Even when IT provides an officially sanctioned UC platform, employees are prone to continue to download their favorite consumer-based communications applications. This compounds security and management issues for IT, requiring a central point of policy and security control for all UC applications in the enterprise."

In addition to concerns about malware entering the network via multiple UC channels, the business risks of information leakage and increasing requirements for logging, archive and retrieval of all electronically stored information sets new standards for IT security management. FaceTime provides this added layer of protection to the security features that are an integral part of Lotus Sametime 8.0 software.

About IMAuditor and Sametime
FaceTime's IMAuditor records IM conversations from Lotus Sametime clients as well as chat from Sametime meeting rooms, applying sophisticated content filtering and security policies configurable by the IT staff. Specific controls include user and group level policy configuration, including the ability to enable Chinese walls. FaceTime is the only security solution to perform anti-virus scanning on file transfers over Lotus Sametime as well as archive the content of the file transfer.

FaceTime provides detailed reporting on Lotus Sametime IM usage, security violations, compliance violations and transcript reviews.

About IMAuditor and FaceTime Enterprise Edition
FaceTime IMAuditor is a full-featured IM proxy that secures and manages all public and enterprise IM use over the enterprise network. IMAuditor, which resides on the LAN, maintains an integrated trust relationship with FaceTime's perimeter product, Real-Time Guardian (RTGuardian). These two products form FaceTime Enterprise Edition to deliver complete end-to-end security, management and compliance for real-time communications in the enterprise, ensuring that corporate data is protected both from outside threats such as spyware, worms and other malware, as well as from information leakage from within the company.
