Senior Enterprise Architect
The Storebrand Group
Storebrand is one of the oldest and largest financial services companies in Norway. Storebrand is traditionally a product oriented organization with a lot of, with each product having its own business process and its own IT solution supporting them. And it's also based on a lot of manual steps.
The big challenge for us is to tie this in together and streamline and automate the processes to be able to handle orders more efficiently.
We made a Service-Oriented Architecture based on IBM technology and DB2. XML gives us the flexibility we need and DB2 Version 9 is a pureXML capabilities is the perfect match for our architecture.
With DB2 and Version 9 on pureXML it makes our application much simpler. We're dreading we needed some of the more most advanced code to do it. Now we can reduce complexity a lot. We get rid of about 20 to 65 percent of the code.
Also we have a lot more flexibility in the platform and it goes quickly to change things. Before we needed weeks to change; now we can use days.
Also on the reporting side we're improved. Before we had some reports that took 24 hours. Now it's down to 10 minutes.
On the business side, we're taking the order process from one to three weeks on average down to 10 minutes. And in the first week of June we processed more orders than we did all of 2005.
