Executive Director

CPT

Carnivore Preservation Trust is a wildlife sanctuary for primarily big cats, and we provide rescue and a home for them for the rest of their lives in a safe and caring environment.

The other thing we do is provide conservation education. Our goal is to teach people about why these animals are important to them in their native habitats, how that affects you here.

And we want to try to help educate people so that these animals won't become extinct in our lifetime which is what we're headed toward if we don't interrupt this.

Six months ago, we use old computers that people have donated. We had problems communicating, inefficiency, not being able to reach the people that we could reach.

IBM and Cisco brought in their equipment this last week. I'm very excited. The message that these guys send about animals in captivity is now going to be able to reach a broader audience. It's easy to write on a Web site this is what you should do or this is what you should think. But it's a whole nother thing when you actually see this on video.

And the increased processing power and storage capability and networking capability we're having with IBM and Cisco is going to enable us to reach our donors, our volunteers, our members better. We'll be able to coordinate that better. So it's going to enable us to connect with our constituents at a much higher efficiency.

The astounding processing capabilities we're going to be getting our of this high-performance cluster from IBM are really going to step us forward, a major step function in efficiency.

And from Cisco a high-performance network with new voice over IP capabilities. It's really going to bring us into the 21st century in terms of our daily operation.

Carnivore Preservation Trust is driving critical technology solutions to preserve these threatened animals. Today, CPT is using the IBM system cluster 1350, Cisco networking and Microsoft clustering software.

Allison Hubbard

Product Manager

Cisco

The Cisco networking technology that's being used at Carnivore Preservation Trust to help the lives of the people that are working here and improve the lives of the animals that live here is a great example of the human network.

BYRNE: The kids comes out for a field trip and gets to meet [Raja] face to face and gets to hear him talk, they're going to go out with a different perception on a tiger than what they get when they go to the circus.

By seeing these guys in person, those kids are going to grow up with a different appreciation for these animals and that's going to be available to the entire public on the Web because of IBM and Cisco.
