Title: TPF 4.1 Communications Overview

Overview: Provides TPF4.1 communications training to new TPF programmers.

Audience: TPF systems or applications programmers with a need to learn or review TPF 4.1 communication and networking concepts. 

Educational Objectives: 

  • Enable students to understand the message flow through a network from end-to-end.
  • Gain an understanding of when it is best to use various protocols according to circumstances and environment.
Topics: 
  • High-level overview of the TPF 4.1 communications environment and the protocols supported.
  • Detailed information regarding:
    • MATIP
    • MQ
    • TCP/IP
Prerequisites: Two years of TPF systems or applications programming experience with at least six months exposure to TPF communications concepts. Prior experience with another IBM S/390 operating system and its communication facilities is also acceptable.

Format: Standard lecture-type
