Tom Brocker, IBM TPF ID Core Team, and Mike DeCarlo, Rob Dunn, Takao Inouye, and Scott Vento, IBM TPFDF Development

TPFDF PUT 13 (APAR PQ30389) gives TPFDF users the option of using a standard ZUDFM command syntax format instead of the traditional (OA) format to improve usability.

The following lists the ZUDFM commands in the traditional and standard formats:

APAR PQ30389 also provides the new ZUDFM OAB (traditional format) or ZUDFM INFO (standard format) command to display block trailer information for a single data block. In the following example, the ZUDFM INFO command is used to display block trailer information for a linked file:

USER: ZUDFM INFO

SYSTEM: CSMP0097I 17.40.18 CPU-B SS-BSS SSU-HPN IS-01
        UDFM0184I TPFDF BLOCK TRAILER INFO F.A. F40640F4
        FILE ID B075
        PRIME ADDRESS F40640F4
        OWN ADDRESS F40640F4
        PROGRAM BASE FF00 HPN
        DATA BASE FF00 HPN
        SUBSYSTEM USER FF00 HPN
        LAST COMMAND DBCKP
        FILING PROGRAM QXDG
        FILING CPU ID B
        FILING I-S 1
        FILING TIME TH 13JAN2000 17.39.49
        END OF DISPLAY

With APAR PQ30389, you must still use the ZUDFM OAH command (traditional format) with the INIT parameter specified to initialize the help database before using the ZUDFM OAH command for help. However, when you use the ZUDFM HELP or ZUDFM ? command (standard formats), you must specify the new BUILD parameter to initialize the help database before using either command for help.

In the following examples, the help database is initialized by using the ZUDFM OAH command (traditional format) with the INIT parameter specified, and then the block trailer help information is displayed by using the ZUDFM OAH command with the OAB parameter specified:

USER: ZUDFM OAHINIT

SYSTEM: UDFM0244I 17.50.50 HLP-DATA BASE BUILT
        END OF DISPLAY

USER: ZUDFM OAHOAB

        DFM - H E L P - OAB BLOCK TRAILER DISPLAY
        ----------------------------------------------

        DESCRIPTION: DISPLAY VARIOUS INFORMATION FROM
THE BLOCK TRAILER OF THE CURRENT
                      OR GIVEN DF-FILE.

OAB DISPLAY INFO OF CURRENT DF-FILE
OAB/........ DISPLAY INFO OF FILE WITH SPECIFIED FAD
        END OF DISPLAY

In the following examples, the help database is initialized by using the ZUDFM HELP command (standard format) with the BUILD parameter specified, and then the block trailer help information is displayed by using the ZUDFM HELP command with the INFO parameter specified:

USER: ZUDFM HELP BUILD

SYSTEM: UDFM0244I 17.46.29 HLP-DATA BASE BUILT
        END OF DISPLAY

USER: ZUDFM HELP INFO
