ABSTRACT OF PROBLEM

The  zfile  ls  output  is  always  formatted for the screen and
includes embedded blanks.


COMMENTS ON PROBLEM
___________________
ZFILE ls output  is  always  formatted  with  multiple  columns,
padded with blanks between filenames.   This causes problems for
any  ls output redirected to a file or ls piped to another zfile
message.



SOLUTION
________
The current ZFILE ls is being replaced with  a  port  from  BSD.
All existing functionality is still supported.  Changes to zfile
ls include determining whether the output is for the screen.  If
directed  to  the  screen,  display the output in columns padded
with blanks but if not, output each item with a newline.
