The SOAP for CICS Quick Tour is a tutorial program aimed at providing a technical introduction to the key concepts and interfaces of the SOAP for CICS feature of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS V2.
The tutorial covers the following areas:
- Business Needs - a brief introduction to the problems that SOAP for CICS can help to solve
- Components - a technical introduction to SOAP and an explanation of how it is implemented in CICS
- Development - a lesson on enabling CICS applications as Web services
- Setup - a description of how to setup a CICS region to process CICS requests
With the exception of the Business Needs section, the material is delivered is of intermediate to advanced technical level. Technical experience with CICS is a prerequisite.
The tutorial is delivered as an interactive Macromedia® Flash® presentation, which can be viewed online in any Macromedia® Flash® compatible browser.
It is also provided as a stand-alone Windows application (an .exe file). Please download the file, save in your chosen location and launch from your local computer.
