Enhanced Ease of Use
New, industry standard installation vastly simplifies the process of installing, migrating and applying maintenance. - CICS Universal Client now uses Install Shield Multiplatforms (ISMP), providing a significantly simplified installation and configuration; particularly on Linux.
Redesigned and searchable Eclipse-based information center provides a greatly improved interface for online documentation. - A new method of viewing IBM product information, providing an improved interface that can be installed on client workstations, on a dedicated server, or viewed on-line from ibm.com.
- Eclipse based IBM Information Centres introduce advanced search capabilities, including ability to search all installed information centers in one search.
The CICS Universal Client is for single users only, either for desktop application access or as a single user administrative client. It must not be installed in a server or multi-user environment. There is a restriction in the CICS Universal Client V6.0 that restricts the maximum number of concurrent tasks. Customers wishing to deploy a server configuration must licence the CICS Transaction Gateway. CICS Transaction Gateway Version 6.0 contains a superset of the functions offered in CICS Universal Client Version 6, and may be used to support multi-user integration applications written in C, C++, Visual Basic, and as Component Object Model (COM) objects. |
