Before you use Domino Global WorkBench to configure document synchronization, you must have one or more localized databases from a source database. The synchronization process starts by using DGW to add synchronization features to either a multilingual database, or to a set of unilingual databases. The first step is to set a status for each form in the database. The status you set specifies how documents created from that form are to be handled by the synchronizing process -- whether the form is used to create Global, Local, or Translatable documents. The synchronization process continues when the site is rolled out to content providers.
After a synchronized application is deployed on a Domino server, the Synchronizer, running on a predefined schedule -- every half hour, hourly, every 10 hours, daily, and so forth -- tracks the status of each newly created, updated, or deleted document. The synchronizer performs the appropriate actions to start a translation workflow that will eventually conclude with the publishing of the appropriate documents in their respective languages.
