This article is a fictionalized account of the expansion of an On Demand business into a new country. It replicates a real-life globalization scenario faced by a business.
"Albonistan" is an imaginary country with a combination of diverse globalization requirements. In a light-hearted but realistic manner we explore the considerations for CIOs, Project Managers and other technical-staff members when approaching business-expansion into new regions. It is intended to be a "rough guide" to globalization.
We show how well-defined globalization procedures based on IBM GAI (Globalization Architectural Imperatives) act as competitive-differentiators over procedures lacking the flexibility, global-perspective and interoperability-objectives of international standards. If the intended-outcomes are clear, then well-understood tasks will fulfill all aspects of user-expectations in new regions. These tasks (and other improved ones) should be an integral part of feasibility-studies and project management procedures of global businesses.
Needless to say, the company, country and people-involved are all fictional. They have been used to create a hypothetical scenario of globalization requirements. Any resemblance with real-life characters or situations is purely coincidental and unintentional.
