  • Improved Time to Value - WebSphere Portal Express continues to focus on allowing customers to reduce their time to value by providing a better installation experience, with pre-configured example web sites, and a Wizard for changing the look and feel of the site without requiring any programming skills
  • Improved Usability - WebSphere Portal Express' new Web 2.0 user interface allows end-users to more intuitively access applications. There are additional improvements for accessing, creating and editing content
  • Improved Performance, Scalability and Robustness - An Idle Standby part number is now available for WebSphere Portal Express to allow customers to improve uptime by having a redundant server. Other enhancements have been made to the performance of the Web Content Management capability. The Web 2.0 interface ensures a lower server load, resulting in overall performance improvements
  • Ease of Administration - WebSphere Portal Express provides improved installation and configuration options, leading to less administrative effort to deploy the server. Integration of the IBM Support Assistant provides access to information and tools, reducing the effort to answer technical questions
  • Improved Extensibility - New portlets and application development tools are included to allow customers to further extend the capabilities of WebSphere Portal Express applications
