 | The exact server and client configuration needed to support an environment with satisfactory response times will vary depending on formats and bit rates of the media objects being managed. Individual display response times and server capacities vary depending on workstation speed, memory, compression formats, and network and server workload. Minimum recommended configurations listed below need to be evaluated and adjusted for unique requirements.

Optional software
The VideoCharger Server for AIX accommodates the following software:
Content Manager Version 8.2 or higher
· Tivoli® Storage Manager (TSM) Application Programming Interface 5.2.2 or higher (Multimedia Archive Only)
· General Parallel File System (GPFS)
· AIX Java™ Developer Kit (JDK) 1.4.2, or later, if you have the Multimedia ArchiveVideoCharger and are using the IBM-supplied presentation formatter (iscpfhom) to play assets directly from the Archive (offline assets)
· The AIX JDK is available from the web site | Recommended minimum hardware configuration. Each component of the AIX VideoCharger® Server must be installed on one of the following machines:
· eServer p5 or pSeries-based processor
Each system requires the following hardware:
· At least 350 MB of space for a DB2 Content Manager VideoCharger Server, 75 MB of disk space for a VideoCharger Video Hub, or 165 MB of space for a Multimedia Archive
· At least 160 MB of memory for the VideoCharger Server
· At least 128 MB of memory for all VideoCharger applications
· Network adapter cards
Dedicated disk controller is highly recommended for performance.
Dedicated disk for the content storage file system (SCSI or SSA). |
