DB2 Spatial Extender

DB2 Spatial Extender and Open Source

GeoTools

The GeoTools open source Java library provides standards compliant classes and methods for the manipulation of geospatial data. This library facilitates the development of Java geospatial applications and is the basis of other open source geospatial projects. GeoTools includes a DB2 Spatial Extender plug-in which provides simple access to DB2 tables with spatial columns. A simple example illustrates DB2 access from GeoTools.

GeoServer

The GeoServer open source project provides an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant Web Map Server (WMS) and Web Feature Server (WFS). The WMS can be used to build sophisticated web applications integrating web mapping from different data sources. The WFS can be used with client applications to integrate and render geospatial data. The GeoTools DB2 Spatial extender plug-in provides simple access to DB2 spatial tables and configuration information is provided to get you up and running easily.

User-friendly Desktop Internet GIS (uDig)

uDig is both a GeoSpatial application and a platform through which developers can derive new applications. The uDig application is similar to commercial GIS applications for the viewing, analysis and maintenance of spatial information from a variety of data sources. With DB2 Spatial Extender as a data source, the user can quickly and easily visualize spatial data in DB2 tables.
