The Information Platform & Solutions Unified Process (IP&S-UP) provides a standardized approach for delivering service engagements. IP&S-UP includes tools and methods to help project managers and practitioners successfully manage initiatives.
An IP&S project is made up of 4 primary phases, each of which can be managed by both waterfall and iterative approaches. IP&S standard practices, templates, tools, and accelerators are leveraged in each project phase to provide clients with proven, repeatable processes.
The IP&S-UP methodology aids in the successful delivery of an on-time, value-driven, stable, and complete solution which meets the identified requirements of the project and the expectations of the client.
Objectives of each phase are described in detail below:
- Inception Phase: the Services team will validate customer expectations and delivery goals, lock down scope while finalizing a delivery plan, document requirements, and mobilize all project team resources.
- Elaboration Phase: the Services team will look to align requirements with an overall solution design, complete supporting documentation, and prepare the systems environments to support construction and transition phase activities.
- Transition Phase: the team will migrate the development environment to a test environment for execution of system integration, performance, user acceptance, and all other test activities. Support for end-user training, production migration, and all other deployment activities will also be completed.
