IMS and Web 2.0
Web 2.0 empowers users to manipulate data and combine various services into a single Web experience. It also enables businesses to gain a competitive edge when they put the vast amounts of data they own about themselves and their customers to creative uses.
The IMS™ Web 2.0 strategy unleashes IMS data by enabling the transformation of IMS assets into REST (Representational State Transfer) services. These services can consume and be consumed by other REST services such as XML, ATOM, or RSS feeds. Data such as inventory status or banking transaction information can be made available to the Web 2.0 community, allowing users to remix and mashup data to meet their needs and thereby extending the value and usability of your IMS data!
IMS Info 2.0 for Mashup Hub: Web 2.0 goes to work!
IMS Info 2.0 lets you integrate your existing IMS assets into Web 2.0 mashup and application solutions. IMS Info 2.0 Alpha 1 is part of the IBM® Mashup Starter Kit that simplifies the integration of data and content and shortens the development and deployment cycles with the following components:
- IMS Info 2.0 Alpha 1 is the IMS plugin included in IBM Mashup Hub that lets you transform IMS transactions into REST services.
- IBM® Mashup Hub lets you transform data sources, including IMS assets, into feeds and REST serives without the need to write a single line of code. You can aggregate, sort, and filter these feeds with Mashup Hub's built-in operators. Mashup Hub allows you to publish REST services as RSS feeds, ATOM feeds, or XML feeds, which can be consumed by REST service clients such as RSS feed readers or Web browsers.
- QEDWiki is the mashup maker with built-in widgets that lets you integrate a variety of Web services and feeds onto a Web page.

Demo
This demo shows you how to use IMS Info 2.0 to convert IMS assets into RESTful services and feeds. It demonstrates how a manufacturer uses IMS Info 2.0 and IBM® Mashup Hub to increase the profitability of their IMS transactions by enabling their customers to access real time stock information as they plan their purchases. This demo also shows how to use IBM® QEDWiki (also included in the IBM Mashup Starter Kit) to generate a user interface which combines several related services to increase the usability of the newly created IMS RESTful service to the customer.
