IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS

Information Management software
Overview

IBM IMS High Performance Image Copy enables you to run the image copy function with the hash checking of IMS High Performance Pointer Checker for z/OS V2, under the control of IMS Parallel Reorganization for z/OS V3 if these tools are part of your IMS environment. As a result, with IMS HP Image Copy, you can reduce the run-time of the reorganization process for an IMS full function and/or HALDB database and you can check the accuracy of an image copy while these processes are running in parallel. New with V4 of IMS HP Image Copy is Concurrent Copy support for databases that reside on devices supporting this feature, providing point-in-time data consistency. Also offered is SnapShot and FlashCopy support providing rapid backup and rapid recovery of a database when needed.

  Key Features
  • Provides Concurrent Copy support for databases that reside on devices supporting this feature.
  • Offers SnapShot support for RAMAC Virtual Array (RVA) devices.
  • Offers FlashCopy support for IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server (ESS) and IBM Total Storage DS8000 devices.
  • Enables running the image copy function with the hash checking of IMS High Performance Pointer Checker for z/OS, Version 2.1 under the control of IMS Parallel Reorganization for z/OS, Version 3.1.
  • Reduces the run-time of the reorganization process for an IMS full function or HALDB database.
  • Contains a new optional parameter for controlling the secondary image copy data set.
  • Supports dynamic allocation for the specification of SMS classes for new output image copy data sets.
  • Provides a Parallel Image Copy function which takes an image copy for more than one database data set in parallel within a single step enabling a major reduction in Image Copy process run time.
  • Allows you to check the accuracy of an image copy in one time-saving step, eliminating several programs and data sets that would otherwise be necessary.
  • Creation Image Copy function creates new copies from IMS standard image copy data set, ICE compresses image copy data set, IMS Online Image Copy data set, or IMS Image Copy 2 data set.
