IMS Connect V2.2 provides support for IMS Connect Extensions to enhance performance and availability reporting. In addition, IMS Connect V2.2 enhancements include manageability, usability, and performance.  - With Version 2.2, you can now issue IMS Connect commands through the MVS modify interface. This is an MVS command and the response to it is presented by MVS to the issuer of the command, thus enhancing consistency and ease of use.
- The second manageability enhancement in Version 2.2 is the Query Member Command enhancements which allows you to add the IMS Connect IP address and version.
- IMS Connect Version 2.2 also adds cancel timer support for better availability.
- Along with the IMS Connect Version 2.2 enhancements, IMS Connector for Java adds Commit Mode 0/Presistent Socket for improved performance, socket time-out for enhanced usability, and retry to broaden availability.
- Supports communications with IMS between one or more TCP/IP clients and one or more IMS systems.
- Supports SMP installability: Dump and trace formatting enhancements for increased serviceability, user exits, command improvement, and asynchronous output support for enhanced usability.
- Provides Unicode support, enabling a Unicode application to send data to IMS host applications, such as a Java application running in IMS.
- Provides ACK/NAK required notification support without additional testing of data received.
- Reduces design and coding effort of a client application by including the full message length preceding the output message to the client.
- Uses VisualAge for Java (VAJava) IMS Connector for Java for creating Java applications that can access IMS transactions from WebSphere Application Servers for zOS and OS/390.
- Offers WebSphere Adapter support with the addition of the IMS Connector for Java J2EE Runtime support.
- Provides eBusiness access to IMS applications and data.

For IMS Connect for z/OS, V2.2: - Much of the base function of IMS Connect can be used with terminals, applications, and data running under IMS V7 (5655-B01).
- The IMS Connect V2.2 function provided to support IMS Connect Extensions for z/OS (5655-K48) is supported with IMS V7.
- IMS Version 8 (5655-C56) is required for IMS Connect support for:
- Distributed IMS operations
- All IMS Connect V2 enhancements
