DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS

Version 8

Information Management software
Overview

DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS, Version 8 delivers full support for the significant enhancements in DB2 UDB for z/OS, V8 such as Unicode catalog, long names and long statements, schema evolution, and indexing and partitioning enhancements. In addition, DB2 Utilities Suite includes improvements to Restart that increase its autonomic capabilities, and supports online schema.

  Key Features
RESTART does not require adding the RESTART or RESTART(PHASE) parameters to the job.
Online schema is supported through REPAIR VERSIONS, which allows reconciliation between DB2 catalog/directory and tablespace or indexes copied from another system.
BACKUP SYSTEM invokes new z/OS V1.5 DFSMShsm services to take volume copies of the DB2 data and logs.
RESTORE SYSTEM recovers the DB2 system to a previous point in time by restoring volume copies of the DB2 data and applying the logs.
Delimited data support for LOAD and UNLOAD provides family compatibility with DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows.
New defaults provide better "out of the box" performance, reducing the time needed to fine-tune parameters.
REORG uses implicit clustering index.
REORG SHRLEVEL CHANGE allows DISCARD, and DISCARD during Online REORG is supported.
REBALANCE. REORG automatically distributes data evenly across partitions.
Additional non-uniform statistics and non-indexed columns are supported.
