 | Are your data volumes growing faster than ever...and becoming more difficult to manage? - Are data migration and data extraction taking so much time that efficiency is impacted?
- Is it difficult to schedule unloads of large tables with batch windows constantly shrinking?
- Is large-scan performance impacted when multiple uploads need to read the same table space concurrently?
IBM DB2 High Performance Unload is a high-speed DB2 utility for unloading DB2 tables from either a table space or a backup. It is designed for ease of use and flexibility, allowing you to unload and extract data for movement across enterprise systems. The tool is available for DB2 on z/OS, as well as on the Linux, UNIX, and Microsoft Windows platforms. Basic functions on all platforms - Helps reduce maintenance windows.
- Reads directly from the table space files to provide quick access to DB2 data.
- Unloads tables to one or more files based on a format that you specify without impacting your production tables.
- Provides fast SQL-like SELECT capabilities, such as filtering columns and rows using a WHERE clause or modifying unloaded values using column scalar functions.
- Unloads a sampling of data (for example, every nth row).
- Takes advantage of many autonomic data type conversions and formats, such as date and time.
Specific functions on z/OS - Provides improved integration with DB2 Utilities by allowing you to specify lists of objects using LISTDEF and TEMPLATE statements
- Lets you unload an image copy on a different system from the one where the copy was created using external DDL
- Unloads from full and incremental image copies (backups).
- Reads tables sequentially and provides quick access to DB2 data.
- Provides JCL and syntax compatibility with competitors unload products.
- Supports multiple formats including: REORG UNLOAD ONLY, DSNTIAUL, VARIABLE, DELIMITED, USER DEFINED.
Specific functions on Linux, UNIX, and Windows - Supports DB2 9 exploitation of:
- Table partitioning
- DB2 Storage Optimization Feature
- DB2 Advanced Access Control Feature
- Runs 64-bit executables
- Performs high-speed data unloads from multiple database partitions.
- Extracts tables from full, offline backups including backups of SMS or DMS table spaces or backups of the database.
- Supports multiple output formats, including XML, delimited and undelimited ASCII, and DSNTIAUL.
- Provides built-in DB2 Splitter functionality so you can unload and split in a single operation at high speed.
- Uses DB2 authorization checking so users with SELECT authority can also take advantage of DB2 High Performance Unload capabilities.
