IBM DB2 for z/OS Value Unit Edition (VUE) enables the deployment of new application workloads on the System z platform. This offering provides the same robust DB2 for z/OS data server at a One-Time Charge price and is available for eligible net new applications or workloads. - DB2 for z/OS Value Unit Edition strengthens the System z role as a cornerstone for key business initiatives such as: Service-oriented architecture (SOA), Web-based applications, and pureXML; Data warehousing and operational business intelligence (BI); and Commercial (packaged) applications such as SAP, PeopleSoft, and Siebel.
- Eligible net new applications and workloads are defined as workloads that meet the following criteria: [1] A workload (excluding applications running under Lotus Domino) that includes DB2 for z/OS VUE, where DB2 for z/OS VUE has been qualified and approved through the zNALC qualification process as eligible to run in a zNALC LPAR(s). [2] The workload must be a net new z/OS workload deployed in a zNALC LPAR(s) at the time of licensing DB2 for z/OS VUE, and not an existing z/OS workload that is transferred or migrated to the zNALC LPAR(s) from z/OS elsewhere in the enterprise or is already deployed in a zNALC LPAR(s) within the enterprise.
- DB2 for z/OS VUE is available for DB2 9 for z/OS and DB2 for z/OS, Version 8 and offer a one-time-charge option
- Charges for DB2 for z/OS VUE are based on Value Unit entitlements.
