The release of DB2 Connect 9 provides additional functionality along with exceptionally fast and powerful connectivity to host and iSeries databases for e-business and other applications running under Linux, UNIX, and Windows operating systems. Some added functionality includes support for Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) communication protocol to allow you to connect to servers using IPv4 or IPv6, removal of the 64 KB limit for SQL statements from Command Line Processor, and connection timeout support for database applications. DB2 Connect has several connection solutions. DB2 Connect Personal Edition provides direct connectivity to host and iSeries DB2 servers, while DB2 Connect server products provide indirect connectivity that allows clients to access host and iSeries DB2 servers through the DB2 Connect gateway. A variety of DB2 Connect server products provides unique packaging and licensing solutions which allows you to select a product that is appropriate for your environment.
