 | Records Enabler Records management applications enable customers to digitally manage the life cycle of their business information and more easily comply with record keeping mandates and regulatory guidelines. The Records Enabler component allows DB2® Content Manager to work with IBM Records Manager to provide an electronic records management solution for any business enterprise. It adds records management capabilities to existing e-mail, groupware, and document management clients such as: - Content Manager Client for Windows®,
- Content Manager eClient,
- Document Manager,
- Microsoft® Office (requires Document Manager),
- Lotus® Notes® client, and
- Microsoft Outlook clients (requires CommonStore for Lotus Domino® or CommonStore for Exchange Server).
With Records Enabler, users can declare any corporate document or information as corporate records. Once a document is declared as a record: - the contents and associated Content Manager record metadata remain in the Content Manager repository; they cannot be edited or deleted without the proper authorization.
- the associated record information is stored in the Records Manager system. The access permissions and lifecycle of the record and its content are governed by the access permissions and lifecycle rules defined in the Records Manager system. Only authorized users such as the records administrators can process or manage the life cycle of the records.
Records Enabler is a no-charge, separately installable component which allows Content Manager to work with Records Manager to provide an electronic records management solution for any business enterprise. It requires separate purchase and installation of Records Manager. |
