XL Fortran is a standards-based Fortran compiler with extensive features to help you create high performance applications.

The XL Fortran compiler family includes the following features:

• Provides full compliance with the FORTRAN 77, Fortran 90, and Fortran 95 language standards, and enhanced compliance with Fortran 2003
• Available in editions for use on PowerPC and POWER processor-based blade servers, System p and System i systems, and Blue Gene/L and Blue Gene/P systems running AIX® or select Linux® distributions
• Supports the OpenMP API Version 2.5 specification, and related compiler options let you exploit symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) architectures with automatic parallelization of Fortran program code as well as explicit parallelization of specifically selected sections of program code
• Provides options to support application debugging with standard symbolic debugging tools
• XL Fortran for Multicore Acceleration for Linux on System p, V11.1 is the newest addition to the XL Fortran compiler family. This version is a cross-compiler.
