File Manager for z/OS

Features and benefits

File Manager for z/OS provides numerous technology and business benefits:

  • Its extensive editing, browsing and batch and interactive capabilities support development and production.
  • It finds, copies, edits, prints, compares and displays data quickly and easily
  • It defines data-set records efficiently by using COBOL and PL/I copybooks stored in partitioned data sets or library management systems
  • It enhances usability because you can customize which fields to display, copy or print

Key features include:

  • Base management component: Manages IBM z/OS® data sets, such as queued sequential access method (QSAM), VSAM, partitioned data sets and z/OS UNIX® System Services Hierarchical File System (HFS) files
  • DB2® component: Provides utilities for editing, browsing, printing, copying and maintaining DB2 data
  • IMS™ component: Manages and manipulates data stored in IMS databases
  • CICS® component: Manages data in CICS VSAM file resources, transient data queues and temporary data queues
  • Templates: Provides a particular interpretation of a data set. Each template defines a logical view that you can use to view and manipulate the data in records as discrete fields.
