C for VM/ESA is a comprehensive C development package supporting POSIX standards in the VM/ESA environment.
It combines the strengths of the existing C/370™ products with OpenEdition® for VM/ESA support to significantly enhance the portability and interoperability of VM applications.
VM/ESA OpenEdition Services support, in conjunction with IBM C for VM/ESA, the following functions:
C applications for System/370 (TM) and System/390 (R) hosts can be written using the OpenEdition POSIX conforming interface.
OpenEdition Byte File System (BFS) can be used for source files and compiler output.
OpenEdition Shell and Utilities Feature provides a UNIX-like application development environment for IBM C for VM/ESA.
