IBM® COBOL for OS/390® & VM helps strengthen your program development efforts and optimize existing applications

Release 2 enables you to strategically position your application development for today's rapidly changing marketplace.

• Supports OS/390 UNIX® System Services and 31-digit decimal data, and offers BLKSIZE=0 specification support for SYSPRINT to set system-determined block size for the listing data set and support under CICS® for DISPLAY to the system logical output device and for ACCEPT for obtaining date and time
• Provides debugging and TRUNC(BIN) performance enhancements
• Includes DB2® SQL coprocessor integration, Millennium Language Extensions integration with COBOL, and enhanced I/O, permitting dynamic file allocation through an environment variable
• Enables linkage of COBOL applications using the DFSMS™ binder alone, with the prelinker required only in exceptional cases under CICS
• V2R2 raises the QSAM tape files limit to 2 GB and introduces a compiler option, DIAGTRUNC, that supports diagnosis of moves (implicit or explicit) that result in numeric truncation
