 | CATIA V4 AEC Infrastructure (ABA) enables the rapid development and evolution of AEC applications using object-oriented technology to represent components within a model (such as pipes, beams, or pumps) and its related information and intelligence. The infrastructure product contains key features, including generic 3D modeling tools for AEC primitives and wire frames, a constraint-based parametric modeler, a customizable report generator, and access to the AEC objects for user or third party program development. Features - Robust geometric modeler with light solids
- Convenient feature-based parametric design
- Network connectivity analysis
- Advanced network navigation
- Object-oriented plant modeling
- Open architecture
- Integration with existing CATIA products
- Rapid project setup allows fast custom project data
- National language & multi-platform support
Key customer benefits - Foundation for CATIA/CADAM plant
The AEC Infrastructure product is the base required by all CATIA/CADAM plant products.
- Object-oriented plant modeling
The CATIA/CADAM plant component-based implementation of the object-oriented data model is fundamentally different from other CAD systems. Objects (such as pipes or valves) are defined within data models to contain their real-world characteristics (data, specifications), behavior (number of connection points, deformable, non-deformable) and world of origin (catalog definition, physical definition or functional definition of the plant). Multiple graphic representations such as a schematic, an AEC solid, a simple envelope and plan view, are used to display the object and are managed within that object. This is the key to managing consistency between project drawings, AEC models, and reports (such as bills of materials).
- Open architecture
There are multiple ways one can customize and supplement CATIA/CADAM plant to imbed their company expertise by either building rules into, adding new, or replacing existing applications: - The application programming interface (API) is the user interface into the CATIA/CADAM applications that allows users to make extensions.
- The object-oriented platform ensures that third party applications share a common integrated data base and operate within a consistent environment.
- User Inserted Programs (UIPs) provide the ability to insert a user routine or specific dialog into an existing application.
- Integration with existing CATIA products
CATIA/CADAM mechanical and AEC applications share a common underlying base. This fundamental design results in unequaled integration between plant, shipbuilding, and mechanical design applications.
- Rapid project setup
Interactive data panels get users productive quickly. Management of setup data is performed within specialized setup functions under control of an administrator. Adherence to setup is assured through the automatic loading of the correct setup data.
- Complex AEC modeling
Light solids are ideal for modeling architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) facilities, equipment and platforms. Infrastructure comes with a library of predefined light solids with customizable feature-based parametrics for modeling such AEC items as cable trays, stairwells, and railings.
- Robust visualization
The use of realistic shading or hidden line display of the 3D model during the interactive use enhances the visualization of complex 3D models and speeds up the design process by reducing the time needed to understand complex situations.
- Constraint/feature-based parametric design
This parametric design function pre-defines features for typical AEC shapes with their various graphical representations. Features for piping symbols (such as socket weld and valve actuator) greatly increases the ease of piping symbol creation.
- Multi-platform and national language support
(NLS) The AEC Infrastructure Product offers multi-platform support, which includes selected IBM, Hewlett Packard, SGI, and SUN workstations. National language support has been enhanced to respect the ISO code page 8859 for menus and messages, allowing function key customization to read in any modern national language.
