IBM and SUSS MicroTec AG (FWB: SMH) today announced they have signed an agreement to develop and commercialize IBM's next-generation, 100 percent lead-free semiconductor packaging technology.

IBM today revealed a breakthrough chip morphing technology, enabling a new class of semiconductor products that can monitor and adjust their functions to improve their quality, performance and power consumption without human intervention.

IBM's BlueGene/L is now the fastest supercomputer in the world, according to company researchers. The computer, measured against the industry-standard LINPACK benchmark, was able to turn in a sustained a performance of 36.01 teraflops.
